Autumn Leaves solo practice for beginners

web site contains PR and ads, affilliate links

As you know , Autumn leaves is one of the songs you must know. When you learn jazz , this is probably one of the first songs you learn.

It’s all about 2-5-1progression and it’s quite easy to solo over when you get the 2-5-1 feeling.

In this lesson , let’s practice simple arpeggios which you will use rest of your life to solo gypsy jazz.

It’s basically arpeggios practice so it’s played 4/4 rhythm. But when you use them in your solos , change the rhythm and feeling not to sound boring.

These are the notes I use.

  • Cm7・・・C Eb G Bb
  • F7・・・F A C Eb
  • Bb6・・・Bb D F G
  • Ebmaj7・・・Eb G Bb D
  • Am7b5・・・A C Eb G
  • D7・・・D F# A C Eb(b9)
  • Gm・・・G Bb D (E as 6th note)

When you use 6th and 7th notes , your solo becomes more Gypsy-Jazzy.

If you need to learn more scales and arpeggios , take a look at this.
