Today, we are going to learn Bossa Dorado by Tchavolo Schmitt.
Probably you’ve heard this song alredy. I guess Stochelo Rosenberg and Joscho Staphan versions are famous.
So, I made a video lesson with their licks. But I would say it’s mostly based on Stochelo’s solo and Joscho Stephan’s solo.
Original Solo
This song goes A1-A2-B-A1 and I often use intro as outro.
This is the intro backing pattern .
Chord tabs
These are the main chord shapes for this song. But there are many other shapes as well.
Improvised solo transcription
Solo is mostly based on Stochelo Rosenberg’s solo but also Joscho Stephan.
This is quite difficult to play. If it’s too fast then use metronome and practice on slow tempo.
Small attention! I use the technique called ‘Enclosure’ at 1min 36sec for 3-4bars. Basically this is a common licks in jazz or gypsy jazz and you approach the target notes by a whole step above and a half step below.
Please have a look at the lesson ‘How to use Enclosure in gypsy jazz solos’ .
Ending is that you play main melody once more then goes to intro as outro.
You can use this ‘Play-Along’ page to practice improvisation!!
