Limehouse Blues Django Reinhardt’s solo / tabs

web site contains PR and ads, affilliate links

This lesson is about solo played by Django Reinhardt.

It is quite difficult to play so the tempo of lesson movie is bit slower than original. Even though, some sections are pretty fast .

If is too fast then , easy tiger.  you should practice with slower tempo.  Then raise the tempo little by little.

This solo is just how Django played but i arranged rhythm guitar like a running bass style because original ones are very aggressive.

SOLO

One thing to mention that when you play the phrase below, try to slide your finger. If it’s too fast then you can use your index and middle finger.

This is just an example. so you can arrange how you like.

Also, when we play like this , i mean bass line, is that when we don’t have a double bass player. So when you play with full-band, be careful to play like this. You might disturb Bass man!

And this tab is ending.

You should remember the movement of 158th bar. In gypsy jazz, we often use it.

The codes are A79 to D79 with chromatic movement.

Because D79 is 5th of G , which is ending code , so this chromatic movement had to land on D7 to lead G.

Its bit complicated so you dont have to worry about this theory. Just need to know that in gypsy jazz, we use like this movement often.
