It seemed people liked the article about Joscho Stephan’s music gear, so this time , I’ll introduce you Stochelo Rosenberg’s gear.
I don’t think it’s necessary to tell you who Stochelo is , but just in case if you are not familiar with him , here is the biography.
Who is Stochelo Rosenberg
Stochelo was born on 19 Feb, 1968 in Helmond, Netherlands. He has 4 brothers and one sister called Sephora whom he wrote a song for called For Sephora.
He started playing a guitar when he was 10 , which I have a doubt about. He should’ve started earlier I suppose…
He learnt from his father , uncle , and of course Django’s records.
He formed the Rosenberg Trio with his cousins Nous’che and Nonnie.
When they were younger , their music was quite aggressive and tried to be faster and faster but now, they sound very smooth and nice.

Stochelo used to use Jacques Favino Guitar then started using Selmer 504. Django used selmer 503.
But his selmer was on sale in 2010, probably somebody else got it by now and he uses Eimers Guitar.

Also Jacques Favino guitar is very famous in france and it’s been around since 1964.
But now jacques Favino became Jean-Pierre Favino who build custom-made guitars.

Stochelo uses Wegenpicks Bigcity 1.4mm . Wegen is very popular to gypsy jazz guitarists.
Bright and sharp sound, I would say.

me, personaly I like Dunlop picks and I use dunlop primetone 3mm.

Strings Stochelo Rosenberg uses
Stochelo uses D’addario gypsy jazz strings and Galli Strings.
I was quiet surprised that he doesn’t use Savarez Argentine which most gypsy guitarists use , also Django Reinhardt used to use Argentine.
Anyways if you want your guitar sounds close to stochelo’s then you can try D’addario or Galli.(there are 010 or 011 guage)
